Can you do something about life’s unfairness?

Let me tell you a story. Imagine growing up in an impoverished home, always having difficulty possessing what many others seemed to have easily. To make things worse, being told consciously and subconsciously that you won’t amount to anything. Then imagine on the other side of the fence, there is a child who was born rich, was always taken to the best schools, given the ability to own a fashion line as a teenager.

If you compare these stories, I’m sure you will say life is unfair. After all luck is what makes you be born into a certain family/ place and not another. But that is just the surface of things.

Digging deep, you will find that life is not that plain. I’m sure if you were omniscient, there will be a level of unfairness you will spot in each lives, just as levels of luck and fairness. The mental reasoning of painting life as fair or unfair is wrong. Life is a myriad of colours and cannot be simplified to just that.

Life can be unfair to some extent as life can be lucky. The girl born poor might be lucky to have good friends while the girl born rich could be the lonely and rich kind. The girl born poor due to social conditioning might not aspire to do more but she is free from the pressures of anticipation. The girl born rich might enjoy the virtually free luxuries of life but might be under more scrutiny by the public.
Even with all this, the concepts of fair and unfair varies in situations and persons. A 19 year old girl getting breast cancer can be seen universally as unfair. But an 80 year old man who dies with dementia might not be considered in the unfair spectrum by most. But who knows, the man might not had wanted to die yet, or have lived a wasted life with no meaning.

The most important things about life is choice, faith, God , hope and joy. This is because these are the things we have control over. We can decide to choose to do better in our lives. We can decide to have faith and believe in God. Hope and joy can be ours for free. I will lay emphasis on choice for now.

Imagine if that the girl born poor decides that she will achieve financial security in her life. So, she works smart, tries a lot of things, abandoning that which does not work and sticking to the things that brings results. Even if this poor girl has anxieties and inferiority complex, because she has made a choice to work on them- life becomes more fair. The girl born rich also has the ability to choice her destiny. She can remain shallow and rich or decide to change her world and develop deep relationships. The girl born rich might also become poor, depending on her choices.

So yes, life can be unfair due to the random occurrences before our birth. But after our birth what we choose to do with life is our choice

Delays are opportunities in disguise

I know that so many of us hate delays, I hated them too. But they always come and there is no way to escape from them. It might be a delayed flight, traffic jam, limiting illness, postponement, etc. If delays are properly handled they can become an advantage. I was taught this last week when my phone suddenly stopped charging and finally shutdown. If you understand how important my phone is in my daily life, you’ll scream. After taking the phone for a repair almost immediately and only to find it that it stopped working when I got home, taught me a lesson on patience.

I had no free chance to go back to fix my phone (at a more competent source) for a week. Those seven days, I learnt how to manage and handle delays. Finding my days quite limited without my phone except for the work which I had, I began to read physical books. I should mention here that it had been a long while since I read books that were not ebooks. I read and finished about 5 books during the period of 5 days!

This is something I would have never done if my phone were still on. The ebooks I read, it would take me days to finish just one. I gained a lot from my reading! And contrary to my expectation, that delay did not cause my week to be boring. I had a good time reading and I was relieved to be free from the stress of my phone addicted life (which many of us from the 21st century have). I was free from social media, the pressure to monitor my social media growth, apps, emails, useless messages, etc. My delay turned into an opportunity! I got the freedom from the anxiety that had engulfed me.

Now that the delay is over and my phone is working fine, I will always be glad for that delay. Because I used it well. The problem is that most people do not use their delays. If patience is lacking, it will be impossible to decide to use your delay for your advantage. You would be too busy complaining about how unfair the situation is to see the advantage. There is an advantage in everything life brings to us. Allow for delays and you will use them creatively, if not it will bring about frustration and anger which are destructive in nature.

How to make the most out of your life

Are you feeling down on life, confused or unable to find the right track to go with? Well, a lot of people feel this way. “How do i make the most out of my life?” is one of the most asked questions to life coaches, astrologers, friends and family, etc. It also a start of a good sign when this question is asked, because it means that you care somewhat about your existence. Below are highly effective ways to enhance your life if followed diligently.

Ways to make the most out of your life

  • Create a theme for your life: It is quite easy to get lost in the turbulence of life if you are unaware of the things that your life stands for. What are you all about, or what do you want to be all about. What goals do you care about accomplishing, how do you picture yourself in the highest state of achievement? Answering these questions can help you find a theme for your life. This will make you know what you should aspire to be in your daily activities. Your theme for life could be: “Successful and happy”, “divinely guided being of abundance”, “Energetic and creative living”, etc. Mine is simply “Abundant success and fullness of life”
  • Know your worth: A lot of people in this journey of life forget their worth along the way due to some tumbling and bashing. They forget that life’s tough times do not define anyone. To make the most of your life, you have to recognize your divinity and realize that you are worth any good thing that can happen.
  • Look for the right things: Seek out the right things that will be beneficial to your life. Stop chasing vain pursuits. Some people actively seek things that hurt them or bring down their sense of self worth. Do not be this way. Treat yourself like a soul mate you are madly in love with. You would only want them to do constructive and beneficial things.
  • Be greatful: As cliche as this sounds, gratitude has tremendous effect on the life of a person. Many times a lot of people are stuck on “the wheel of complain”, that they forget they actually have things to be greatful for. Even if you lament poverty, have you stopped to thank God for your talents , fullness of life or… your lack of having cancer? Even if you have cancer, have you stopped to be thankful for the caring friends and family you have. Also, you have eyes to read this, or ears to be read this to. I have learnt along my way in life, that there is always something to be thankful for. And when you are thankful, miracles happen and good things come.

Small

Small

Little,insignificant

We were made to feel this way

Powerless

If our nature be our fault

For when we always go wrong

Controlled

No reputation

Minute object without jurisdiction

If things truly change

Could it come quicker

Will the tides ever shift?

Our names faded

The images paint blood in my soul

My insignificance remains

Maybe a bit dramatized

But the concept is true

Unrestrained may be my thoughts

To flow from whatever source

When the mind decided to shut up no more

With a unique style

Different

Un proud yet unashamed

Insignificantly great

Small remains only in the mind that lies to itself

Asante sana,my beloved

It’s not about willpower!

Willpower had become a cliche word for in which so many self help people proclaimed to be an ultimate problem solver. Its only recently that studies on willpower show how limited it is.The effectual reliance on the short supply of this proclaimed wonder tool has no basis in actual keeping up with a positive habit.

It turns out that by rewiring the pattern of your brain, the need to use willpower frequently is not neccesary. The constant loop mode the brain is always in to repeat pattern and habits is our enemy, especially when it comes to creating change. If only we learn how to break the pattern and stop the habit when we notice the loop in action.

So no,it’s not about willpower when you want to change your habits, action, thought processes and your mind. It’s about doing something sporadically, out of the blue even as when your mind tells you to follow the old ways you are used to.When you begin to do this,it becomes more easier to try new stuff.Willpower becomes less needed to go through the day.

Be spontaneous!
